Incoming Filtering - MX Records Setup (Normally Automated!) Print

  • 0

Unless you're Primary DNS Zone is controlled elsewhere, upon purchasing a SpamExperts Email Service, the Incoming Filtering function requirements will be automated - so no manual configuration to your DNS MX Records is required. Should it not for any reason, go get Mario and he'll work out why it hasn't and even get these records setup for you. Still, worth mentioning how to do this yourself though, so;

  • I will assume at this stage you have a SpamExperts Email service provisioned & showing as 'Active'

Configuring MX Records

To use Incoming Filtering, you need to point the MX Records for your domain to the SpamExperts Hosted Cloud routes.

First remove any existing MX records from the DNS Zone.

Then set the MX records with the following priorities as SpamExperts describe:

  • mx.spamexperts.com (Priority 10)
  • fallbackmx.spamexperts.eu (Priority 20)
  • lastmx.spamexperts.net (Priority 30)

Now you will need to allow DNS to propagate for SpamExperts to recognise the MX records have changed and to filter the emails.

No further configuration is necessary. An email will be routed through the SpamExperts Cloud System initially, Spam filtered out, and the resulting clean emails forwarded on to the TechVita Hosting mail server!

Again, this shouldn't be necessary but it's equally important you know what's happening along the email delivery journey as nobody will notice an important missing email right!?
